Is the GOAT Rating the same as Game Value?
No. Baseline Rating is the formula-based seed. GOAT Rating is the live leaderboard rating after confidence-weighted fan influence. Game Value is only the rank-based point value used in the five-player game.
Why can the rankings change?
The live leaderboard responds to head-to-head community results. Fan influence starts small and grows with matchup confidence, so one or two surprising votes cannot immediately overturn the historical baseline.
Why are only 50 players available in the game?
The five-player game uses the live Top 50 to keep the point range meaningful. Players ranked 51 through 75 can still participate in live ranking and voting but are not currently part of Chase 470 gameplay.
How does the position-lock game work?
PG, SG, SF, PF and C begin with one eligible Top-50 player each. Lock one player, then every remaining position spins again. The choice pool narrows from five positions to four, three, two and finally one. One free re-spin can reroll all currently open positions.
What is a perfect score?
The perfect score is recalculated from the live Top 50. It is the highest Game Value total that can be built with exactly one eligible PG, SG, SF, PF and C and no player used more than once. Because the live rankings can move, the perfect score can move too.
Does GOAT Chaser claim the formula is objective truth?
No. Cross-era rankings always contain judgment. The purpose of publishing the methodology is to make the starting assumptions visible and consistent while still leaving room for the community to disagree through structured voting.
Is GOAT Chaser affiliated with the NBA?
No. GOAT Chaser is an independent sports game and commentary project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NBA or its teams.
